Web16 feb. 2024 · Regardless if it's the spring tips rubbing or squeaky rear shackle (the hanger is in front & affixed to frame) It almost always comes back to dirt/debris working it's way in, if lubing is your fix then make sure it's not a petroleum based lube, these types will degrade & eventually rot out bushings in leaf springs/shackles,etc;... It happens mostly when I pull a trailer or the suspension starts to flex any. I called 2 of my local dealers and neither one of them have had any trucks come in with the same problem.

Jack the rear and let the axle hang to unload the leafs to get as much between them as you can. Also, at the end of the day, remember that it's a pickup truck riding on leaf springs. This protected the springs from corrosion and I believe increased the spring rate to a degree whilst ensuring a smooth operation. Web25 jan. 2014 · Finally found that one of the noise pads on the end of the sping pack was missing ( plastic piece between ends of springs ). This causes metal on metal rubbing and a squeak. The end of the leaf in question has slight lip which allows a big screwdriver to be wedged it with a few taps of a hammer.
