WebBackground: Circulating levels of endothelin-1 (ET1) are elevated in heart failure and predict poor prognosis. However, it is not clear whether ET1 elevation is an adaptive response, maladaptive response, or an epiphenomenon of heart failure. WebAs a lung transplant recipient, you will have scheduled bronchoscopies following your transplant. During this procedure, a number of small pieces of your lung are snipped to determine whether acute rejection or other inflammation is present. A rinsing of your lungs is also done to determine if there is any infection in the transplanted lung(s).
