For a street setup oval ports create more low speed torque and there are people in the tens with stock oval ports on Mark Jones engine. So if its not seeing a lot of track time would suggest these.

The 396 cylinder bore is small and gets shrouded with larger valves in closed chamber heads. the 2.07 valves are the right valve size for your 396 with closed chamber heads.
